About Us

As keen travellers ourselves, we opened Wattle Court Retreat in 2001, just over the dunes at Jan Juc, Victoria, on Australia’s Great Ocean Road.

Jan Juc is one of a range of famous surf beaches located close to Bells Beach where the Rip Curl Pro surfing event is held each year at Easter.

Recognising the value of the Internet as a way to book accommodation, we noticed that many booking sites were becoming overloaded with information, making it harder for visitors to make sensible easy decisions about where to stay when they wanted to get away.

This site is the result. We have collected some quality accommodation choices from experienced proprietors in a range of prices so that you don’t have to wade through dozens of unsuitable places before finding something worth booking. Tim spent years teaching youngsters how to make the most of the IT revolution. Now he watches the native birds – cockatoos, rosellas, magpies, wattle birds – from his “office” window. You guessed it – he hasn’t left the computer totally behind. He keeps in touch with his five children and seven grandchildren by email and Skype while growing the business online.

Yvonne used to meet with people who were making transitions in their life when she practised as a family and individual therapist in Melbourne. Now she is right at home, combining her passion for painting, writing and meeting the needs of travellers along the Great Ocean Road with her love of the sea, native birds and the bush.
